We’re kicking off ‘Keep the Tennessee River Watershed Beautiful Month presented by TVA’ in a big way! Not only is October a month dedicated to celebrating protecting our watershed, but it’s also the 10-year anniversary of the 2015 Tennessee River Tour that led to our nonprofit forming! Plus, we’ll be surpassing the milestone of 1 million lbs. of trash removed from the Tennessee River watershed since we put our first boat in the water in 2019.
Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon will help us to kickoff the celebrations with a press conference held on Volunteer Landing at 3 p.m. Once the announcement is over, our partners and volunteers will disperse to clean several points of Fort Loudoun Lake of the Tennessee River. More information to come. We hope you’ll join for this exciting and momentous celebration of a big point in our organization’s history, in so many ways!
There will be five breakout cleanups on Fort Loudoun Lake for this day:
Holston River Park (3300 Holston Hills Rd, Knoxville, TN 37914) - The Knoxville Rotary Club will hold a cleanup on the river miles that they adopted in our Adopt a River Mile Program.
Downtown Riverfront (400 Neyland Dr, Knoxville, TN 37902) - Ijams Nature Center will take their volunteers to clean the shorelines in downtown Knoxville. BOAT IS FULL!
Duncan Boat Dock (2329 Duncan Rd., Knoxville, TN 37919) - The Keep the Tennessee River Beautiful crew will drive our boats from the press conference at Volunteer Landing back to Duncan Boat Dock where we are headquartered. Volunteers will be able to board our boat from the marina. BOAT IS FULL!
TWRA Boat Ramp in Louisville (2332 Topside Rd, Louisville, TN 37777) - Our partners at Keep Blount Beautiful will host a cleanup along the shorelines near the TWRA Boat Ramp in Louisville.
