Freshwater Mussel Adoptions

Our juvenile mussels were bred in the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency mussel conservation programs. In their silos, the juvenile mussels will be more likely to thrive as they help to filter the waters of the Tennessee River watershed while growing at the same time. These mussels will serve as an ambassador to help raise awareness to others about protecting this species that is so vital to the existence of most animal species in the Tennessee River.
